HUMAN FACTORS - A BRIEF HISTORY

Human Factors training started in earnest in aviation - an industry with an excellent performance in safety compared to other high-risk industries.

The aviation industry has invested billions of dollars to understand how a person's characteristics, capabilities and limitations work, to better understand the way in which humans interact and learn.  Studies have included comparisons and benchmarking of groups of people to aid with training, recruitment selection and also the design of equipment and tasks.

For decades Human Factors knowledge has been used to understand and match the fit between people and operations, as well as to improve the safety and performance of commercial flight operations.

THE VALUE OF COGNITIVE TRAINING

Human Factors training differs from the traditional safety training we are all familiar with. Human Factors focuses on the cognitive and interpersonal skills needed to effectively manage team-based activity, rather than just the technical knowledge and skills required to perform specific operations.

Understanding how individuals perform under a range of variables and circumstances helps develop systems, procedures and processes that support them to carry out their roles safely and competently.

‎So...... in reality, Human Factors impacts on the way people in all businesses communicate, make decisions and deal with emergencies.‎

For over 30 years I've been working with individuals and businesses to help them accurately develop, measure and assess specific and accredited learning, development and competence requirements.

I provide expert advice and support to a wide range of industries both locally and remotely to help clearly define and plan all competency and training needs.

I work with business leaders to quickly identify operational and business risks caused by performance or procedural issues. I then mitigate those risks by implementing a pragmatic and planned approach to competency and training management. I also have in-depth experience in delivering analysis and competency mapping to ensure that businesses, teams and individuals meet and exceed the criteria required to operate safely, productivity and profitably.

From tackling personal decisions to reaching important milestones, my job is to guide you on the path of success. I’m fuelled by my commitment to excellence and go the extra mile to make sure clients are fully satisfied with my work.
